Settling In

A couple of weekends ago we had our first fire in the outside fireplace.
It was enjoyable and the hearth height was just right to sit on or put our feet up.
The area is so peaceful and we just really are enjoying our house.
I look forward to coming home to it after work.

Doing a little Halloween decorating in the foyer.
This little skeleton is made out of bells.

Sam added this ghost to the kitchen.

We founds some chairs for our island bar.

We also found a bench for our table.

Here is the whole corner cupboard.  It is like the cupboard was made for that corner but I have had it for 25 years.  I was going to sell it once but decided against it and I am so glad that I did.
My Mom made the wool hooked rug.
Still working on my new address cards.  It brings me pleasure just to look at all the colors though.
Hope that you are having an enjoyable fall too.

Fall at Saint Francis

The last few days have been so pretty and the trees started really changing, so I decided to bring my camera and capture a few pictures.
This tree is kind of sparse at the top but the colors are really nice.

This tree really captured my attention.  This is a fabulous color.

Here is another side of the Brookside (Bass Mansion).  The tall bricks in the corner is where an elevator was installed.

There was a slight mist on Mirror Lake this morning.

Here is the Mary Garden.

I liked this shot.  Can't you just see the horse and carriage dropping off the passengers here?

Lastly this is my geranium I keep in my office.  It stays all through the year and keeps flowering as long as I  keep giving her food.  She gets a little out of hand sometimes and then I give her a good trimming. I have had her almost 5 years now.

This little light of mine

The toilet area of the bathroom is a room all its own.
I never thought about putting an electrical outlet in there,
but it is very dark at night.
I had to find a light that ran on batteries but I didn't really think one with a sensor would work because it wasn't going to sit in a window.  I found this great little light for $4.00 at Big Lots in the Christmas section.
It runs on two AA batteries.  When you first get it to light by screwing in the top it will stay on for 8 hours and shut off for 16 hours automatically. It won't need to be touched again until the batteries need changed.  It has this cute little light bulb that flickers like its is a flame.  It just does the trick for a little bit of light that we need in that dark room in the middle of the night.

A Birthday

Still putting things away.  This time it was alphabetizing the CD's to put in the cabinet.
Makes them easy to find.

Today was Tom's 52nd birthday.
We like to take photo's together so we can remember what we all looked like.
It's called facing reality.
I think the birthday boy looks great.
We celebrated with steaks on the grill, baked potato, muffins, corn, a trip to Lowes for garage organization items and a chocolate cake.
It was a great day.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY BIG GUY!
