Slow creation time
I was telling my friend Theresa that I haven't been able to create much that I can show on the blog. I have been recreating the yard, by pulling weeds and trimming the bushes. I have created an graduation open house card to insert in the invitations. I have been creating the inside of the new house by choosing flooring and cabinets and lighting and plumbing fixtures. I have been mentally creating the menu and cakes for the graduation party. I just haven't been able to get into the studio to create some fun things for show and tell. Please come back because they will show up before you know it. I hope you are having a good spring!

House Pics 05-18-2010
It has been raining for the past two days
so the men have been working inside.
This feature is one of the best things.
A stairway up to the attic.
This picture doesn't do it justice but this is the attic
which goes the whole length of the 4 car garage.
We could hold a dance up there.
They have put up the wood for the outdoor room
and the corner that you see is where the fireplace will be.
This area is my storage shed for pots and dirt.
It will be great!
Birthday Girl
Over the weekend we went to a special girls 2nd birthday party.
She is quite the looker.
Making an important call.
Cake fit for a two year old.
It was very, very good.

Poppies, Daisys and Tiles-Oh My!
I just noticed that my poppies have started blooming.
The crepe paper like petals fascinate me..
My Nieces and Nephews gave this daisy to me the other night.
I thank them again for it.
I have found these mexican tiles to put into my tiled shower.
I also found these lovely glass ones too.
I am striving for an eye opening, day brightening shower.

It's Here
My favorite quilt magazine to dream on.
It comes out twice a year, in spring and fall.
My plan when the time is right is to open my own quilt shop.
It is so enjoyable to read about these people who followed their dream doing something they love and making it a viable business venture.
Someday, someday it will come true, I feel confident. .

Lots of wood making a sturdy cathedral ceiling.
Tom's Den Window is all Boxed in.
Here is a view from the front.
Mother and Father Goose and the lone gosling (the little dark spot between them.)

For Mette who loves Dresden Plates
This little quilt I made a few years ago.
It measures 23 inches by 23 inches.
I hand pieced and quilted it.
It is made with reproduction 1930's fabrics.
It is one of my favorites.
Card Sharing
Last week was my Brother-in-law, Daves birthday.
I made him this card.
This crabby blue bird makes me smile.
I thought he would appreciate it.
The Bluebird stamp is a Bugawumps rubberstamps
and the saying is from Morningstar stamps.
The patterned paper is from My Minds Eye.
The solid paper is probably from Stampin Up but I am not sure of the color.
Lastly I embossed it with my Cuttlebug
and the Bluebird is colored with Watercolor Pencils..
Da Life!
This was one of my finds at Big Lots.
(Not the Cat)
It's really sturdy and very rarely is there not a cat on top of it.
It wasn't cheap and I hoped that the cats wouldn't turn their noses up at it.
Knowing how finicky they are.
It has turned out to be a hit.
Sometimes there is one on top, one through the middle and one half way into the bottom, all at the same time.
A cats life, isn't it great!

Here you can see the cathedral ceiling in the foyer.
It had been too muddy to look at the back of the house, but today it was very dry.
Here is the outdoor room as we call it. It will have a woodburning fireplace also.

The Heavenly Scent of Lilacs
This is another of my very favorite bushes.
My Dwarf Lilacs
They bloom later than the larger old fashion bushes.
Oh, and they smell so wonderful.
I have two, one on each side of my front door.
One grows bigger than the other because the gutter downspout comes out right beside it.
Every morning I wake up and take a huge breath of air to inhale the scent.
It is truly a little piece of heaven on earth.

Fun Elements
Aren't these yummy colors?
I had been on the lookout for more chalk ink.
A booth had them buy one get one free.
It was a hard choice what colors to pick.
Here are all my new fun things to work with.
Again-the possibilities are endless.
This is by far the best pencil sharpener I have ever had.
It sharpens 3 different sizes.
I was having problems sharpening my colored pencils.
One twist of the hand and it is sharpened.
It is a new Simple Pleasure!

The house is coming right along.
The garage is taking on it's style.
There are a few roof beams up.
I thank those men who climb up there to nails those together.
Each day as the form takes shape it gets a little more exciting!
Even the walls in the kitchen are going up.
The house and floors are so nice and solid, they all are doing such a nice job for us.

Grandmothers Flower Garden
I was looking at Mette Robl's blog Erle Perle and she likes to use hexagons on her designs
It made me remember this quilt we have that was made by my husbands great grandmother.
It is beautifully made and even has the green garden path.
We are very lucky to have it.
The Tree
Here is our home.
See that tree in front of the window?
We bought it 18 years ago in expectations that it would grow bigger and shade the brick and the window.
It was really that size when we got it, but we thought it was young.
We bought it at a local tree farm, where the trees are still in the ground.
It is a flowering crab.
It has a pink hue to it now because the buds are pink.
It has never grown any taller in the 18 years it has been in the ground.
A bit wider as it has gotten older, like someone else I know.
We have had to trim it so that we could mow under it.
We wait 365 days for this beautiful event. It is very, very full this year.
Then it gets little crabapples on it, that get all shriveled up through the winter. One day every February, I look out and the tree is full of blackbirds or Robins.
I would say at least 20-that's a lot for a little tree.
They are all jabbering to each other and making lots of noise. That is just a great sound after it has
been a long winter. They strip the tree of the apples. Then it is ready for the new season.
This tree has brought me lots of pleasure.....as short as it is.

Girl on a Bird
Before we went to the stamp show in Akron Ohio
we always stop at a store in Brunswick Ohio
called Hollos Papercrafts.
This is a place that just has everything. Great papers, envelopes, art supplies, scrapbooking supplies
school supplies. I got these papers and envelopes.
And then I got her...The Girl on the Bird!
I kept walking by her and just kept coming back.
Her face is fantastic!
The crow with the pumpkin is fun too.
Whoever made them put them on a broken candlestick holder.
Clever!
I love this picture too.

The house is just coming along so nicely.
This is just a days worth of work.
This will be the view from our bedroom and
right off the bedroom to the right is the sunroom.
We will have an equally nice view from the nook
and to the left it goes out to the outdoor room.
I said HOLD IT, you look so thoughtful here.
Thats my Tom, he has worked hard to make this all come together,
because tonight when we were looking at our new house
we were also on the phone negotiating
the sale of our current home.
ANDS IT'S DONE, WE SOLD IT!
